October 2021, ISTANBUL Elif crowned its renewable energy use target with I-REC certificate in line with its sustainability strategy.
Elif received I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate), which certifies that electrical energy consumption is produced from Renewable Energy Plants, while zeroing the carbon footprint of 2021 electrical energy consumption. With that certificate Elif proves that the electrical energy it purchases is obtained from 100% renewable resources.
Renewable Energy Certification is an energy quality certification scheme that started to be implemented in European countries and the United States (USA) in the late 1990s and created its own market. The function of energy quality schemes is to present the characteristic of 1 MWh of electricity mobilized between the producer and the user.
Renewable energy certification in Turkey operates in line with national (YEK-G) and international (I-REC) regulations. Renewable power plants in Turkey have been carrying out certification under the I-REC standard since 2015.
The I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificates) certificate is a certification scheme developed for the quality of renewable electricity produced in some of the developing countries.
